Travel Inspiration: The Longest Way

Man Walks Nearly 3000 Miles Through China 00

On Novermber the 9th, 2007, Christoph Rehage set off walking from Beijing on a journey of a lifetime. His epic travels of over 4000km took him acroos China, through cities and deserts, all on foot. Why? “It makes you own your way. Whenever I walk somewhere, not only do I remember the way, but I also feel like I have a legitimate reason to be there,” he says. “I visit a place by train, and I’m a tourist. I walk to the same place by foot, and the place is suddenly mine. We belong together, and I don’t feel like an alien anymore.”

54 JOKES In Four Minutes!

4 minutes of pure unadulterated jokes. Most of them nerdy, all of them awful. I'm happy.

The Future Of Reading?

As someone who refuses the kindle, (second hand book shop every time), I am not saying that this will replace books. I just find the idea of reading in such a different way pretty exciting...

Spritz is a text streaming technology that fires words at you one at a time, at a chosen number of words per minute. The result? Well for me, at the moment a minor eye and head ache, but the potential for increased productivity is enormous. At the higher speeds it's not relaxing (yet at least), but I would find it seriously useful for work. I can see this kind of technology taking off in a big way amongst business people.

I find that at 600 wpm I am still saying the words in my head, just really quickly. Does everyone read like this? When you first learn another language you often translate to/from your mother tongue in your head. After a while, your brain makes the transition to processing the meaning of words, rather than using a word in a given language. It would be cool if with something like Spritz you made the transition to not reading the words in your head.

Anyway, I really recommend checking out the demo. Love it ? Hate it? Let me know what you think.
