Following the critically acclaimed 'Diego the hamster beatboxing', Diego returns with his much awaited sequel, 'Rollin'.

Police Are Bear-ing Down On Animal Thieves

Animals cannot always be trusted.

Like Sam the Seagull and his tangy cheese Doritos based crime streak

Bear...where are you going with that dumpster?

You need to be constantly vigilant.

Just look at these getaways...

Ruthless.

So you might not want to leave your car unlocked.

And hold on to your hubcaps.

These guys will get you when you least expect it

An Homage To The Red Panda

Red pandas are arguably some of the cutest animals on this planet, but they are not all that well known. So here is a little more info on these little lovelies a.k.a. the red cat-bears.

Found across the Eastern Himalayas and South West China, red pandas live in high altitude temperate forests. Excellent climbers, they spend most of their day snoozing up a tree. They become a little more active in late afternoon and early evening. Sensitive to temperatures, these little guys like to be warm. They also enjoy rubbing their backs and bellies on the bark of trees. Simple pleasures.

I think it's fair to say that they are not all that adept in snow...

Like their distant cousins, red pandas can't digest cellulose and so have to eat a lot of bamboo. Bamboo is not a highly nutritious plant, so red pandas conserve energy by being active for only 56% of their day. In other words...they're super lazy.

And they do NOT like being snuck up on...

With those faces and such magnificent tails, they're pretty impossible not to like, but in case you had any doubt left in your mind, here's one freaking out over a pumpkin...

Unlikely Animal Friendships

Because life's that bit better with slow lorises on your antlers...

Cat Island

There is a little island off the coast of Japan called Tashirojima, or cat island, where the felines outnumber the humans.

An ancient belief that to feed a cat brings prosperity, has allowed the stray population to boom.

Unsurprisingly dogs have been outlawed and it is more or less prohibited to bring one on to the island.

Non-cat lovers have long since left the island and the locals treat the cats lovingly. In fact there is a cat shrine there!

All in all it's a pretty good place to be a cat... a pretty bad place to be a mouse.

How Wolves Change Rivers

A beautiful insight into the delicate, yet ever-changing balance of nature...
Also a nice indicator of how bad-ass wolves are.

Hand Art: A Canvas At Your Fingertips

Guide Danielle ditches the more conventional canvases, favouring human hands. His work has me yearning to fingerpaint.

Animal Prosthetics

I love seeing technology put to good use. Here are some beautiful examples of human ingenuity being used to help out our animal friends.

If you are interested in prosthetics, I've been working for a couple of years with a Bolivian organisation that provides prosthetic limbs to people who can't afford healthcare. You can learn more on our website or like us on facebook. We have lots of no-fee volunteer positions in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, so if you fancy an extended holiday or a career break, why not get involved?

Penguin Knitwear

Last year saw the hipster knitwear trend rise to a whole new level, culminating with some incredible animals on knitwear...

Source
But there's an all together better trend that began back in 2000 and re-emerged in 2011 and that's penguins in knitwear.

WHAT!? When faced with the tragedy of an oil-spill, during which penguins get cold and ingest the toxic oil whilst trying to clean themselves, volunteers came up with a fashion-forward solution for the little fellows. A knitting pattern and a plea was sent out to save these tiny Australasian penguins, the largest of which stand at a proud 30 cms tall. Knitters from around the world united and workers were inundated with colourful miniature jumpers.

In 2000 and 2011 hundreds of lives were saved by the tiny jumpers. As a precautionary measure Tasmania holds a penguin knitwear bank of over 15,000 of them. Cute.
